Which Compression Mode Should You Use?
Balanced
Use Balanced when you want to preserve document quality and still try structural optimization.
Strong
Use Strong for scanned PDFs and image-heavy documents. Pages are rendered and re-encoded as JPEG images.
Maximum
Use Maximum when file size is more important than image quality. Lower resolution and JPEG quality can produce substantially smaller files.
Why Some PDFs Do Not Compress Much
PDF size depends heavily on its internal content. A PDF containing already-compressed JPEG images may show very little reduction from structural optimization. In contrast, scanned pages with large images often benefit much more from downsampling and JPEG re-encoding.
Privacy
This version performs PDF processing in the browser. The selected PDF is not intentionally uploaded to an Apna Network server by the compression code.
Important Limitation
Strong and Maximum modes convert each rendered page into an image. This can reduce file size substantially, but text may no longer remain selectable/searchable and vector elements may become raster images. Balanced mode should be preferred when preserving the original PDF structure is important.
